Rajab Shareef, The Month of Allah (Shahrullah)

Rajab Shareef, The Month of Allah (Shahrullah)

Rajab Shareef, The Month of Allah (Shahrullah)

The month of Rajab which we will enter is the seventh month of the Hijra calendar. It is part of ‘Ash’hur al hurum’ and is Shahrullah, meaning the month of Allah. A person should fast in this month and ask for forgiveness.

For a person who fasts for the first day, three years of Nawafil fasting Thawaab are given, 2 years for the second day, and for the third day 1 years’ worth of rewards are given. This is evident with Hadith Shareef. After the first three days, 1 months’ worth of rewards are given for every day fasted.

Because this is the month of Allah, Surah Ikhlas which confirms the oneness of Allah should be recited frequently.

In showing respect for this month, every day 11 Surah Ikhlas should be read, Tawheed, Istigfar and Salawat should be recited.

There are two holy nights in this month:

  1. The first Friday night is Ragaib.
  2. The twenty seventh night is Mi’raj.

On the first night, Salat Tasbih should be prayed or Salat which is pertained to this month. The description of these prayers will be explained in detail in the following days.
To read 100 Surah Ikhlas with 7 Surah Fatiha at the beginning and end, also has a lot of Thawaab.

A person should read as many Khatim Anbiya and fast during this month. Fasting on the 13th, 14th, and 15th days, known as Ayyam Bidh, will cure people from many illnesses.

The Night Of Raghaib And Ibadah Advised For The Night

The Night Of Raghaib And Ibadah Advised For The Night

The first Friday night of Rajab Sharîf is called the Night of Raghâ’ib. Muslims should enter this holy night fasting.

Muslims are advised to perform a Hajah Salâh (Salâh of needs), consisting of 12 Rakâhs on this night between Maghrib and Ishâ Salâh.

One should recite Surah Al-Qadr 3 times and Surah Al-Ikhlâs 12 times after Surah Al-Fatiha in each Rakâh. Salâm is given at every two Rak‘âhs. After the completion of Salâh, one should recite Salâti Ummiyyah 7 times and then go into sajdah (prostration):

Salâti Ummiyyah is as follows: “Allahumma Salli ala Sayyidina Muhammadini’n-Nabiyyi’l-Umiyyi wa ala alihi wa sahbihi wa sallim.”

The following Tasbih should be recited 70 times while in sajdah: “Subbuhun Quddusun Rabbuna wa Rabu’l mala’ikati-wa’r-Ruh”.

After the sajdah while sitting, the following Dua should be recited once: “Rabbi-ghfir warham wa tajawaz amma ta’lam. Innaka anta’l a’azzu’l-akram”.

Afterwards one should make sajdah again reciting the previous Tasbih 70 times, “Subbuhun Quddusun Rabbuna wa Rabu’l mala’ikati-wa’r-Ruh”.

Subsequently, Dua is made. One should beseech Allah in their Dua by saying, “Allahumma barik lana Rajaba wa Sha’ban wa ballighnaa Ramadhân.”

The following day (Friday), between Jumuah and Asr Salâh, one should offer a Shukr Salâh (Salâh of thankfulness) consisting of four Rakâh. Salâm is given at every two Rak‘âh. In each Rakâh, Âyah Al- Kursî 7 times, Surah Al-Ikhlâs 5 times, Surah Al-Falaq 5 times …and Surah Al-Nas 5 times is recited after Surah Al-Fatiha.

After completing the Salâh, 25 times ”La hawla wala quwwata illa billahil aliyyil azimil kabiril muta’al” and 25 times ”Astagh-firullah al athim wa atubu ilayk” are recited, and then Dua is made. (Du‘as [Invocations] and ‘Ibâdahs [Acts of Worship])
